In the wake of the cholera scourge and infrastructural decay amongst most parts of Zimbabwe’s capital city, residents from Harare South have witnessed massive enrollments of infrastructure face-lift being spearheaded by local legislator, Trymore Kanopula in unison with other constituency stakeholders.

Speaking during the commissioning for one of the six boreholes drilled around the constituency and road rehabilitation familiarisation tour this Wednesday, Kanopula shared his desire to transform livelihoods around the constituency and improve mobility.

“This development programme has come in the wake of a poor road network within the constituency which exposes some residents to mobility constraints and communication breakdown,” Kanopula said.

“This has led to lost goodwill amongst commuting residents who had to walk long distance to board commuter omnibuses and other forms of transportation. Some found it impossible to move their merchandise from points of loading and offloading, hence with improved road networking, this will enable them to easily engage in their businesses as there is increased mobility,” Kanopula added.

Meanwhile, Kanopula has expressed his commitment to fight cholera through ensuring that the constituency avails more boreholes which will supply clean and safe water for drinking as both corrective and preventive measures.

“We have officially commissioned some boreholes today in our tireless efforts to ensure communities drink safe water in those areas where there are incidences or reports of cholera. This is in line with the Vision 2030 and we are complementing government’s efforts in transforming communities as we have witnessed His Excellency Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and Vice President, Cde Chiwenga doing the same in this constituency,” Kanopula said.

“We are implementing all assignments as assigned by Zanu-Pf, which is the majority party in legislature and governance. We will tirelessly work around the clock in ensuring that the constituency is transformed for the positive,” Kanopula remarks.

Councillor Simon Manzanga (Ward 12) has applauded the legislator and other stakeholders for uniting in developing their area, claiming it helps in transforming livelihoods and realisation of local development.

“We really appreciate the commitment by local residents and other stakeholders who are part of co-operatives which complement Honourable Kanopula’s initiatives to transform communities in the constituency in line with the Second Republic’s vision,” Councillor Manzanga said.

Since assuming his role as Harare South’s legislator, Honourable Trymore Kanopula has been shuttling between Parliament and Constituency whilst ensuring that there is communication between the two institutions. This has seen several developments being spearheaded by the Second Republic including transforming health, environment and socio-economic infrastructural facilities of the constituency.

Recently, Harare City Council has been fingered in controversy for failure by its management to have a working billing system for the past six years as it is currently incapacitated to effectively receipt and bill residents.

The non-functionality of a council billing system has become a burden to residents with some receiving a monthly bill of as much as US$800 monthly.

Some council officials are alleged to be deliberately conniving to sabotage the proper working of a billing system after their bid to replace a US$75 000 system with a US$51 million system was shot down last year.
