The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, through its vibrant and spirit-filled ensemble—the Vamiririri veDenga Gospel Choir, continues to uplift the hearts and souls of gospel music lovers across the nation.

With powerful harmonies, heartfelt lyrics, and unwavering devotion, the choir has become a beacon of hope and inspiration in both the church and the wider community.

Founded on a mission to spread the Word of God through song, Vamiririri veDenga, meaning “Messengers of Heaven”, has grown into one of the most beloved gospel choirs in Zimbabwe.

With their music blending traditional Methodist hymns with rich African rhythms and contemporary gospel sounds, the choir has managed to create a unique and soul-stirring worship experience that resonates with all generations.

The choir ministers not only in church services but also at national events, gospel concerts, and community outreach programs, using their voices to bring comfort, healing, and joy, with their songs often speaking of faith, perseverance, love, and salvation—messages that are especially powerful in times of hardship.

By combining musical excellence with spiritual depth, Vamiriri veDenga is not just entertaining audiences—they are reviving spirits, restoring hope, and renewing faith. Through their ministry through music, they truly embody the Methodist Church’s commitment to serving God and His people with passion and purpose.

The gospel group, which was formed in 2008 in Gokwe Center, has grown significantly over the years, becoming a notable presence in the local gospel music scene.

Since their humble beginnings, the group has managed to release two full albums, both of which have received positive feedback from fans and gospel music enthusiasts alike.
In addition to their audio projects, the group has also produced a professional music video, which has helped increase their visibility and reach a wider audience.

While speaking to the chairman of the group, Paul Madhadha, added that the journey has not been without challenges, but their faith and dedication have kept them going.

“We started with just a passion for spreading the word of God through music…Over the years, we have grown not only in numbers but also in experience and production quality. The support from our community has been incredible, and we are grateful for every opportunity to minister through song.”

Since “We started this group in 2008. We are singers who perform in the choir of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe. Later, we decided to sing as an all-male group after the late Bishop Pfebeni, who was also involved in music, gave us a vision”, Madhadha explained.

He also mentioned that the group is currently working on new material and plans to tour different parts of the country to share their message and connect with fans.

“Our mission has always been to uplift souls and bring people closer to God. As long as we have breath, we will continue to sing for His glory,” the chairman concluded.

Vamiririri Vedenga also use their own platforms—whether through social media, live performances, or community outreach programs—to showcase up-and-coming talent. They often invite lesser-known artists to share the stage or contribute to their projects, giving them much-needed exposure to larger audiences.

In addition, they have been involved in mentorship initiatives, where they provide guidance on the artistic process, professional development, and even navigating the business side of the creative industry.

Their commitment to community empowerment through the arts has inspired a new generation of creatives to believe in their potential. Many young artists credit Vamiririri Vedenga not only for inspiration but for practical support that helped them find their voice.

As cultural ambassadors and role models, Vamiririri Vedenga continue to bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, encouraging authenticity, resilience, and unity in the artistic community.
