Popular Glendale-based traditional healer Sekuru Nyangatayani has ventured into the transport business after acquiring his first haulage truck as part of efforts to diversify his business interests and contribute to Zimbabwe’s economic development.
The truck, which is branded Nyangaz Logistics Herbal Solutions, marks his entry into the transport sector, adding to his interests in farming and mining in Mashonaland Central.
Speaking on his latest investment, Nyangatayani said he was excited to join the transport industry and would continue exploring opportunities in different sectors.
“I am happy to be joining the transport industry with my first truck. We want to develop our nation, so I am joining various sectors,” he said.
Nyangatayani has over the past year also gained recognition for his philanthropic work, particularly in supporting vulnerable members of the community.
In January, he paid school fees and donated stationery and learning materials to underprivileged and differently abled learners at Glengrey Primary School in Glendale. The support also included teaching materials for teachers.
He has also worked with musician Chipo Muchegwa to support people living with disabilities. The pair donated money and groceries to a five-year-old girl in Mukumbura and helped build a two-roomed house for her and her grandmother. Nyangatayani and Muchegwa have also supported another girl living with a disability.
In December last year, Nyangatayani donated Christmas hampers and gifts to disadvantaged members of the Mazowe community, including people living with disabilities, the visually impaired, elderly people, widows, widowers and orphans.
His community initiatives have also extended to correctional facilities. In June last year, he donated groceries, sanitary pads, winter clothing and toiletries to inmates at Bindura Prison.
The latest investment into transport is therefore part of a growing portfolio of interests for the traditional healer, who has maintained that business and community development should go hand in hand.
