HARARE – Four Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) from Mutapa Investment Fund’s mining cluster today signed Integrity Pledges with the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) as the US$16 billion sovereign fund moves to seal corruption leakages.

The CEOs – Mr Patrick Maseva-Shayawabaya (Mutapa Gold Resources), Mr Innocent Rukweza (Mutapa Energy Resources), Mr Godwin Gambiza (Mutapa Base Metals) and Mr Munashe Shava (Mutapa Platinum Group) – signed at a ceremony in Harare witnessed by ZACC Commissioner, Advocate Shepherd Manhivi.

The four entities are the new commodity verticals created after Mutapa unbundled Kuvimba Mining House into five specialised units.

Commissioner Manhivi said the pledge is binding, not ceremonial.

“We are here to ensure that the wealth of Zimbabwe benefits Zimbabweans. The Mutapa Investment Fund holds assets worth US$16 billion. This integrity pledge is not ceremonial – it is a binding commitment to accountability, asset declaration and lawful conduct. ZACC will monitor compliance,” Manhivi said.

Manhivi added that mining remains high-risk and the new structure should sharpen governance.

The CEOs pledged to complement Government’s anti-corruption drive.

Mr Maseva-Shayawabaya said: “As Mutapa Gold Resources, which manages Freda Rebecca, Shamva and Jena mines, we pledge to uphold the highest ethical standards. We will complement Government’s efforts to root out corruption by enforcing traceability systems, open procurement and zero tolerance to gold leakages.”

“We are custodians of the nation’s energy future. I pledge to ensure transparent contracting, fair value for lithium and coal assets, and to support the national anti-corruption drive without compromise,” said Rukweza.

“Base metals are critical for industrialisation. Corruption distorts value. We commit to ethical leadership and to complement Government’s efforts to root out corruption in all forms – be it bribery, favouritism or illicit financial flows,” Gambiza concurred.

“Platinum is a strategic asset. We pledge integrity in our dealings, protection of shareholder value for the people of Zimbabwe, and full cooperation with ZACC in rooting out corruption,” Shava said.

The signing is part of Mutapa’s FIRE strategy – Fix, Revive, Strengthen and Extract value. ZACC will roll the pledge to all 66 entities under MIF.
