MAHUSVU, CHIKOMBA – Renowned gospel musician Pastor Castor Wenyasha Vhengere’s new album Mhepo Nyarara has received massive endorsement across the country, with congregations adopting songs from the project as national gospel anthems.

From church conferences to youth gatherings and indigenous church festivals, tracks from the album are being sung in unison, with many pastors calling it ‘a timely word for the nation’.

Speaking during the Zvapupu Zvajesu Apostolic Church’s Annual Feast of Tabernacles and Conference at the church’s headquarters in Mahusvu, Chikomba, Vhengere expressed gratitude for the overwhelming reception.

“I appreciate the reception by fans and the audience,” Vhengere said.

“This album acts as a stimulus for societal uprightness, an agent of social cohesion and a prescription for spiritual growth. When people sing, they are healed, they are corrected and they are drawn closer to God,” he added.

The 8-track album carries messages that speak directly to families, communities and the church. Songs on Mhepo Nyarara include Matendera Here, Batanidzayi Vana, Mhepo Nyarara, Zvirimo, Zvinobvepi, Pane Vana, Chirwere Rudzii and Vasvinudzeyi

Church leaders at the conference noted that songs like Batanidzayi Vana and Mhepo Nyarara have become rallying calls for unity and prayer, especially during a time when the country is mourning.

Vhengere also used the platform to mourn members of the African Apostolic Church under Bishop Ngoni Mwazha who perished in last Friday’s Chivhu accident.

“As gospel artists fellowshipping with other indigenous churches, Ubuntu must be our guiding principle,” he said.

“We are one body in Christ. In times of pain and in times of celebration, we must stand together for spiritual growth and for the nation,” said Vhengere.

The gospel star said music should not divide denominations but build bridges, adding that indigenous churches have a critical role to play in shaping morals and healing communities.

Delegates at the Zvapupu Zvajesu conference broke into worship as Vhengere ministered, with many describing Mhepo Nyarara as the sound of this season.

With radio stations, church choirs and gospel playlists countrywide now heavily rotating the album, Mhepo Nyarara is shaping up to be one of the most impactful gospel releases of 2026.
