Former Citizens Against Economic Sanctions (CAES) boss, Martin Zharare, has reportedly been summoned to appear before Chief Nembire in Mashonaland Central on October 17 following allegations that he used the traditional leader’s name to defraud CAES members.
Zharare is expected to appear before the traditional leader under case number 52/26 to respond to the allegations, which centre on the alleged misuse of Chief Nembire’s name in dealings with members of the anti-sanctions group and defending himself at the magistrate court using the chief’s name.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud, including the number of members affected and the value of the money or property involved, were not immediately established.
It was also not clear whether a formal police report had been filed over the allegations.
