Manyara Muyenziwa, President of the Freedom of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) party, recently met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Davos, Switzerland. In a short video, Muyenziwa is seen engaging in conversation with Ramaphosa at a round table of leaders.
Muyenziwa, who has been vocal in advocating for a multiparty system, commended the political developments in South Africa that led to various parties coming together to form a government. The 2024 elections, held last year in South Africa, resulted in the ruling African National Congress (ANC) failing to secure a majority vote, which forced them to establish a coalition government with other parties.
According to Muyenziwa, Zimbabwe needs to move away from the winner-takes-all approach and embrace a multiparty system.
“A multiplicity of perspectives leads to innovative solutions and sustainable development. The challenges facing Zimbabwe are immense, and the path to progress lies in embracing inclusivity and dialogue among all political factions,” she stated.
Muyenziwa also recently addressed the ED 2030 push, criticizing the agenda that could lead to the postponement of the 2028 elections. She warned President Mnangagwa against breaching the Constitution.
