The Elnino induced drought of 2023/2024 left eyesores on the developmental and social landscape of Zimbabwe as families and animal’s scrounged for survival leading to social decadence.
UNICEF country representative Ekona Etole at a Press Conference highlighted that Elnino, “Contributes to increased risk of child illness and death (child morbidity and mortality), amplified by reduced access to sanitation and hygiene services.Impacts people’s livelihoods and hampers economic development. Impact on education (school drop-outs, etc) and increased risks of child abuse and exploitation (child labour, marriages, etc).”
With Zimbabwe being a predominantly farming based population , the significance of rain for its people and Wildlife heritage can never be undermined, opportuning economical growth and social peace.
