Holy Rosary Secondary School, a Roman Catholic School was established in 1981 after epresentatives of the church and Local Communities met a Holy Rosary Primary School in
1981 with a view to establish a secondary school in Mvurwi.

Delegates agreed that the school
should cater for local and non-local learners that is pupils from outside Mvurwi. This was done
to enable learners to access Secondary Education since there was no Secondary Schools in
Mvurwi, making it the first formal secondary school in Mvurwi.

There was a study group which was non-formal at Holy Rosary Primary School, with the
establishment of the secondary school providing opportunities for learners to access secondary education after completion of grade (7).

The school started at Cheshire foundation buildings adjacent to Agribank where the school was leasing the buildings, with Fr Martin Chawira standing as the Local Responsible Authority for the school.

Martin Chiwara played a very important role on the establishment of the school as the place or site for the Secondary school was earmarked for Holy Rosary Primary School’s further developments and
expansion.

There was an enrolment of 128 pupils during the inauguration of the school. They were all
form ones in 1981.There were three (3) form one classes.During the same year two blocks (2)

The form ones were the first to use the newly completed blocks.

when Sr Gasho was transferred to Mary Mount Mission in Rushinga.
