Ruling party affiliate Young Women For Economic Development(YW4ED) has thrown its weight behind the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3, which seeks to extend the Presidential term up to the year 2030 amongst other changes.

Speaking during a presser in Harare, the national executive comprising of chairladies drawn from the country’s ten provinces unequivocally endorsed Constiutuional Amendment Bill Number 3.
Musician cum politician, the vivacious Sandra Ndebele represented Bulawayo Province.

Speaking through their Spokesperson Mrs Tofara Nyoni’YW4ED noted that the constitution is a document that must timeously move with the needs of the people.

“As YW4ED, we just want to remind the people in Zimbabwe that a constitution is not a museum piece neither are it’s amendments, but, it is a living document designed to evolve with the needs of the people. This Amendment Bill Number 3 is about securing longterm development , ensuring policy consistency and allowing our young women and growing institutions to mature,” she said.

She also added that:
“By supporting this, we are choosing progress over stagnation and national unity over fragmentation-together we are building a stronger, more resilient nation. We firmly stand in support of this Bill to ensure a better life for all.Our support for this constitutional amendment is anchored on three pillars, policy consistency and economic certainty”.

YW4ED highlighted that the country had witnessed seamless transition from Transitional Stabilisation Program(TSP) to NDS1 now NDS2 hence as young entrepreneurs all they clamour for is policy consistency so as to secure funding for their businesses for growth and the Presidential term extension guarantees that.

Speaking via zoom, as she was on national duty outside the country, National Chairperson for YW4ED, Hon Tatenda Mavetera said that they are fully behind Constitutional Amendment Number 3 to ensure continuity of the good work that the President is doing.

“We are here today to send a clear message to the young women in Zimbabwe: We as YW4ED fully endorse the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3.This amendment is about continuity.It ensures that the development trajectory set by the President-the roads, the dams, the New Parliament,the empowerment of the youth,the empowerment of the women is not disrupted but consolidated. We want to see Vision 2030 through and the President needs adequate time to finish the job he has started so brilliantly,” she said.
