A self-proclaimed apostolic prophet from Buhera was convicted for raping an eleven year old boy in Rushinga.
Prince Misi (24) was sentenced to 15 years in jail by Bindura regional magistrate Elisha Singano.
Prosecutor Clever Nyapfani told the court that on November 15 last year, Misi came to Sonzi village under chief Rusambo in Rushinga to perform conduct some prayers at a house in the village.
The complainant was sent by his mother to go and collect the man of cloth from the bus stop.
While on their way to the house, the prophet told the minor that he was being tormented by evil spirits.
He further claimed that the evil spirits had to be cast out immediately before they struck him dead.
Upon arrival at the house, Misi started performing his exorcism sessions, and at night, he was told to sleep in the dining while the complainant sleeps in the kitchen.
Misi suggested he wanted to sleep with the complainant, and at midnight, he forcibly had anal sex with the minor and gave him $2 to buy his silence.
After giving the boy money he said it was meant for busfare to come to his shrine for further prayers.
In the morning the boy gave his mother the $2 and told her that he was given by Misi for bus fare to come to his shrine and he went to school.
When he returned from school he went in his room and started crying the mother followed and was told about the abuse.
A police report was filed leading the arrest of Misi.
