A suspected electric cable thief was electrocuted while trying to steal a Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution (ZETDC) armoured cable.
Gift Maodza was arrested at Mutoko hospital after he was seeking treatment.
The matter came to light at Mutoko magistrate Court, where he appeared before magistrate Caroline Matanga.
The state led by Ray Tsikayi alleged that on November 3 last year, Maodza connived with two other suspects who are still at large to steal ZETDC cables at All Souls Hospital Mission Econet booster station.
The accused climbed on the poles and attempted to cut the powered cable.
He was struck by electricity and fell down but he managed to escape.
When he went to hospital for treatment police were tipped and arrested him.
