Zanu PF councillor for Ward 22 in Buhera Central Constituency Witness Muchuchu is reportedly at loggerheads with villagers, party leadership and developmental partners.

Muchuchu, an unofficial returnee from the now defunct opposition party was reportedly elected during the 2023 elections as a protest vote against his predecessor.

Speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation, one villager said Csllr Muchuchu was now showing his true opposition colours.

“See, Muchuchu was a known member of the opposition but surprisingly during the last election he summersaulted and started supporting Zanu Pf but he never officialised his return. So owing to protest from the electorate against his predecessor he prevailed in the primary and harmonised elections. But now, he is showing his true opposition colours to the extent that the Presidential and social welfare inputs are now being stored at a known opposition member at Masasa Business Center.
He is also changing schools and clinic committees getting rid of all ruling party members and replacing them with opposition members who are his blue-eyed boys.

He is just abrasive and brags that he is untouchable as he is the “owner” of the Ward. Development partners who come to our Ward are being tossed around despite clearance from the higher offices. We are in a fix,” lamented the source.

Efforts to get a comment from Councillor Muchuchu were fruitless and text messages sent to him were not responded to up to the time of going to print.
