A 22- YEAR OLD Plumtree woman was sentenced to one year in jail for assaulting her father’s girlfriend with a cooking stick.
Sithelo Ngwenya was sentenced by Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware yesterday.
Ngwenya was lucky to escape jail after Nembaware suspended six months on condition of good behaviour, and the remaining six were converted to 210 hours of community service.
The court heard that on December 12, Selusiwe Ndlovu was called by her boyfriend, who is Ngwenya’s father, to come to his house.
Upon arrival, Ngwenya accused Ndlovu of having an intimate relationship with her father and she became violent.
Ngwenya picked up a cooking stick and assaulted Ndlovu on the head resulting in her sustaining a deep cut.
Sheila Nyathi prosecuted.
