Chimanimani magistrates Courts set March 13 as a date for trial of Buhera South Member of Parliament Ngonidzashe Mudekunye (ZANU PF) who is facing public violence charge with five others.
Mudekunye who is currently on bail appeared before Chimanimani magistrate Regis Mawarire.
The prosecutor Hardlife Machando told the court that Mudekunye’s docket is not yet ready and his lawyer Benjamin Bhasikiti requested the matter to be removed from remand but the court ruled in favour of state and granted the postponement.
Allegations are on January 18, Mudekunye arrived at Birchnough Bridge driving his vehicle and ordered a female guard Prettymore Kasiya to allow the truck that was behind him to pass without weigh Bridge documents.
Kasiya refused, and Mudekunye became furious before assaulting her with open hands.
Kasiya was left writhing in pain and bleeding.
She filed a police report, and Mudekunye was taken in cells by Mutare police while in leg irons.
Meanwhile, Mudekunye is not new to controversy as he has a record of disrupting party events that do not favour him and assaulting people in Buhera.
