HARARE – A section of Solomon Mujuru Road, formerly known as Kirkman Road, will be temporarily closed on Thursday, February 5, 2026, for road rehabilitation works, with the closure expected to affect the stretch from N Richards turn off to Sanganayi Inn junction.

In a statement this Tuesday, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development announced the closure to facilitate essential infrastructure upgrades. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and plan for extra travel time to avoid delays.

“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to advise the motoring public of a temporary partial road closure of Solomon Mujuru road (formerly Kirkman) from N Richards turn
off to Sanganayi Inn junction to facilitate road rehabilitation works. The road will be temporarily closed all day on Thursday, 5 February 2026,” the statement reads.

“Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternative routes and allow extra travel time for delays. Please exercise patience, caution, and obey all road signs and traffic controllers,” the statement adds.

“We appreciate your cooperation during this essential infrastructure upgrade. The Ministry regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the public’s cooperation and patience during this essential infrastructure upgrade,” added the statement.

This move is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve Zimbabwe’s road network under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme (ERRP). The programme aims to repair and upgrade roads across the country, enhancing connectivity and economic growth.

Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has emphasised the government’s commitment to developing and maintaining efficient road infrastructure. The projects include the rehabilitation of key urban arteries, national and rural roads.
