A member of Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) was allegedly assaulted at a local bar in Plumtree in a beer dispute.

Robson Danga of 13 infantry battalion, Plumtree, was severely assaulted by Stanford Tshuma at Msindazi bar in Plumtree.

Tshuma was sentenced to one year in prison by Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware.

Nembaware suspended six months on condition of good behaviour with the remaining six months standing effective.

The court heard that on January 2, Tshuma was assaulting people over beer at Msindazi bar when Danga tried to refrain him, Tshuma accused the soldier of stealing his belongings.

A serious misunderstand arose and Danga was further assaulted with open hands.

He sustained multiple bruises.
