Harare, Zimbabwe – The Palestinian Embassy in Zimbabwe has strongly condemned the devastating impact of Israeli military offensive’s on Palestinian women in West Bank and Gaza.
As the conflict continues, thousands of women have been killed, displaced, or left struggling for survival under unbearable conditions.
According to the embassy, over 12,316 Palestinian women have lost their lives, while 162,000 have contracted infectious diseases due to the severe humanitarian crisis caused by the ongoing siege. The crisis has also led to tragic consequences for expectant mothers, with 50,000 pregnancies ending in miscarriage and 2,000 women suffering permanent disabilities due to amputations.
Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr Tamer Almassri, condemned the Israeli government’s actions, calling them a deliberate attempt to erase the Palestinian identity through forced displacement and systematic violence. “The Israeli occupation is not just a military aggression; it is a well-orchestrated campaign to uproot Palestinians from their land and erase their history,” Almassri stated.
The embassy called upon the international community to take immediate action, urging nations to impose targeted sanctions against Israel, facilitate the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid, and push for a just resolution based on international law and UN resolutions.
“The world cannot continue to turn a blind eye while Palestinian women and children suffer the brunt of this war,” the statement emphasized. “There is a moral and legal obligation to hold Israel accountable for its crimes and ensure that the Palestinian people achieve their right to self-determination”, Ambassador Almassri explained.
The statement comes as global outcry grows over the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, with calls for an immediate ceasefire and international intervention to protect civilian lives.
Meanwhile, the State of Palestine urgently calls upon the international community to Implement targeted sanctions against the occupying state to pressure it to cease its aggression and protect Palestinian lives, facilitate the immediate and unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian women and children, and work towards a just and lasting resolution to the conflict, based on international law and UN resolutions.
