A Mozambiqan national, Robate Eliassi, was convicted for stealing five cattle by Chipinge magistrate Nixon Mangote.


He was sentenced to twelve years in jail with three suspended leaving him to serve an effective nine years.

The court heard that on June 7 the complaint received a tip-off that the convict had visited his home area and stole five cattle and were ferried to Mozambique.
On June 15, the complainant with the help of Mozambiqan police managed to apprehend the convict but unfortunately the cattle had been driven to SOFALA area in Mozambique.

The Mozambiqan Police police came with the convict and handed him to Zimbabwean Police.

The value of the stolen property is US1600 and no recoveries were made.
