A 23-YEAR-OLD Chipinge man who barricaded Birchenough Bridge- Mount Selinda highway with stones and burnt tyres calling for President Emmerson Mnangagwa to step down has been convicted by Chipinge magistrate Nixon Mangoti.

Tafadzwa Hapureni was sentenced to three years in jail for endearing or obstructing free movement of persons.

Mangoti conditionally suspended one year.

The court heard that on July 15 Harupeni together with his accomplice Isaac Chitengwa went at the 20 kilometer peg along Birchengough Bridge -Mount Selinda highway and barricaded the road with stones and burnt tyres.

The duo also demanded the stepping down of Mnangagwa with iron sheets written,”The Zimbabwe African #Revolution, Mnangagwa must step down resistance #fire4fire ,the #revolutionary movement with due respect Mnangagwa must step down the fall of vision 2030 resistance fire for fire sniper operation.”
