Daniel Dube (53) of Matiwana village in Mphoengs, appeared before Plumtree magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware for assault.
He pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentencing.
The state led by Sheilla Nyathi alleged that on July 29, the complainant Kelly Ngwenya was walking with his wife who is young sister to the mother of the accused and their son going home from Matiwana business center when they met the accused person who was also at the business center riding his bicycle and passed them.
The accused person rode and cycled ahead of the complainant and his family and waited for them after the river at Matiwana village.
The complainant who was pushing his bicycle crossed the river and caught up with the accused person who stopped them and asked the complainant what he had discussed with his ex wife.
Despite confessing that he did not even talk to his ex wife, the accused suddenly slapped the complainant several times on his right cheek, picked a half brick and hit him once on the right eye and he fell down bicycle on top of his body which the accused person used to press

on the complainant’s neck.
Desperate cries from the complainant’s wife to let go of her husband fell on deaf ears and she was ordered to go away since she was trying to be a witness for the assault he was committing.
The accused person later freed the complainant leaving him lying down.
