Minister of Information, Communication, Technology and Postal Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera has emphasised the transformative role of digital technology in land governance speaking at the 2025 Leadership Success Series held at Masvingo Polytechnic.

Addressing the theme, “Land Tenure: Unlocking the Potential of Young People”, Mavetera highlighted the necessity of digital land registries in order to minimise disputes and empower young farmers.

“The land is ours. The technology is here, and the time is now,” Mavetera asserted, underscoring the urgency of integrating technology into land management.

She further stated that, “Zimbabwe will not be left behind in the Fourth Industrial Revolution; your destiny to emerge in land ownership, with tech innovation, will redefine Zimbabwe’s economic landscape.”

According to Mavetera, digital innovation facilitates easier access to financing and markets for farmers, thereby driving agricultural development Mavetere said as she encouraged the youth to leverage technology for a brighter future.

“You were born to be architects of the future, not presidents of the past.”

Mavetere noted that technology hubs established under the Second Republic are incubating startups that transform land into smart enterprises, fostering creativity, innovation, and job creation.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Masvingo, Ezra Chadzamira, echoed these sentiments, urging young people to be responsible in heritage preservation while emphasising on the returns on mass investment in agriculture as increased security, employment, and downstream advantages of value addition.

“The more farmers invest in land, the more rural industrialization takes place, where roads, conference centers, and retirement homes will be constructed,”. Chadzamira said.

The government’s commitment to digital transformation is evident in initiatives like the Agriculture My Future Our Future (AMFOF) program, which provides training and resources to young farmers.
Additionally, efforts to improve digital infrastructure aim to ensure that 80% of Zimbabweans will have access to affordable, high-speed internet by 2030.
