Popular cleric Bright Chikomo of Bright Light Prophetic Deliverance ministry claims he is being targeted by some hitmen hired by drug peddlers .
The youthful preacher held a successful anti-drug concert in Dzivaresekwa a few months ago where he vowed to come hard on drug peddlers who are fueling the drug scourge.
Recently, the controversial cleric told this publication that he was attacked and robbed of his valuable personal belongings in Dzivaresekwa in very unclear circumstances.
“So this other day in the evening while coming from local shops I got attacked by some rowdy guys some of them whom I know as drug peddlers .They just started beating me up for no apparent recent and I lost my prized I-phone 6 ,64 Gig, during the melee that lasted for close to 15 mins.
Moreso, “The strange part of all this ordeal is that they didn’t let me know why they were attacking me,”narrated Chikomo.
Chikomo argues that had it not been for the intervention of some passersby who recognised him ,the worst could have happened to me.
“Some passersby witnessed my harassment and quickly intervened .They could not come to terms with why some of the guys who know me personally where part of the gang that was being led by one Jeff whom I don’t know much about.” added Chikomo.
After the incident ,the cleric says he believes that the drug peddlers could have been angered by his anti-drug campaign hence they are after harming him.
“I am linking this to the work that I have been doing against drug abuse.The drug peddlers feel like I am taking away their clients so I have to be stopped either dead or alive.”The church leader revealed.
Chikomo has since filed a police report under čase CR 428/5/04 with the accused being Jeffrey, Easynice and Talkmore.The investigating officer one Mweya Mweya could not be reached for comment.
