A 20-YEAR-OLD Makhubu primary school debt collector has been convicted by Plumtree magistrate.

Xolisan Mkize was sentenced to an effective 18 months jail term by magistrate Joshua Nembaware.

The court heard that on 8 November, Mkize broke into the headmasters office and stole a cash box containing ZAR 5896 and US$381.

The school’s deputy headmaster Zibusiso Sibanda filed a police report leading to the arrest of Mkize.

Sheila Nyathi prosecuted.
