There was drama at Bindura magistrate Court on Thursday where Mvurwi Town Council Admnistrator, Knowledge Marusho, threw her Town Secretary Sheri Nyakudya under the bus for relying on rumour to get her two employees arrested.
Marusho who is a witness in a theft matter involving Obidah Gapa (41) Finance manager and Loveness Mbewe (38) Human Resource Assistant said the report is emanating from hate.
Speaking as a star state witness, Marusho cleared the accused persons of any wrongdoing.
“Your Worship, people must work well with their fellow workmates. The Town Secretary acted on gossip and rumours when she reported this case. Had she exercised her mind carefully, she would have realized that the transaction in question was above board and the accused persons cannot be faulted at all. We are here because of gossip, not because of any crime,” Marusho said.
The state alleged in February 2022 the accused hatched a plan to steal from their employer for personal use.
In pursuit of thier plan, Gapa instructed an administration assistant Knowledge Kazai to raise a requisition of ZW 189 750 and another one for ZWL 64 400.
Mbewe occupied a house which was supposed to be occupied by the Town engineer, Christian Magombere, as they made Magombere to stay at a local lodge.
