Church leaders from across Africa converged in Bulawayo to launch the Council of Churches in Africa’s (CCA) 2026 theme, “Culture of Purity” which act a guideline on how clergymen interact with their respective governments to ensure sustainable development amongst communities.

The event brought together prominent figures, including civic representatives and political dignitaries, to emphasize the importance of preserving Africa’s cultural heritage while promoting moral integrity and spiritual discipline.

Arch-Bishop Dr. Rocky Moyo, CCA Founder President, stressed the need for indigenous churches to collaborate with governments to achieve sustainable development, citing the importance of purity, humility, and love. “The foundation of everything has to start with purity, if we practise purity in our homes divorces will not be happening. This is also a template on how clergymen interact with their respective governments to ensure there is realisation of sustainable development amongst communities,” Moyo said.

“This theme comes in the wake of our quest to create a just society where equity and equality become foundation of a just society,” he added.

The launch featured a solidarity speech by CCA Zambian Chapter President, Bishop Dr. Brian Kalikiti, who highlighted Zambia’s experiences with purity initiatives, emphasizing that purity is essential for spiritual and social well-being.

The event reinforced a collective resolve to align faith, culture, and national development, affirming the church’s role as a custodian of moral values.
