In a disturbing incident a Mazowe man caught his neighbor raping his defenseless sister in the bush after she screamed for help.
The matter came to light at Bindura regional magistrates courts yesterday where Fact Lampton Dire (25) appeared before magistrate Amos Mbobo.
Dire pleaded guilty to the charge and he was slapped with a 20 year jail term.
The court heard that on August 2 around 05:00 am the convict met the complainant on a foot path and he grabbed her by the collar before tipping her down.
He subsequently covered the victim’s mouth and the two wrestled together.
Dire overpowered the complainant and when he was raping the victim she screamed for help and her brother came to the scene and saw the shock of his life as the rapist continued commiting the crime.
The brother had to effect citizen arrest on Dire and surrendered him to the police with the help of other residents.
