A 46-YEAR-OLD Plumtree man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend for refusing to give him money.
Joel Ngwenya severely assaulted Sihawukele Dube and broke her rib cage in the process.
He was dragged to court where he appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware.
Nembaware remanded him in custody.
Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi alleged that on December 16 last year, Ngwenya demanded cash from her girlfriend, who told him that he had no money.
He dragged her in the bedroom severely assaulted her and in the process broke her rib cage.
After the assault he forcibly took her cellphone valued at $350 and went away.
