HARARE – Air Tanzania is set to take off with a new Victoria Falls–Dar es Salaam–Cape Town route this Thursday, December 11, 2025, injecting fresh energy into Zimbabwe’s tourism sector and reinforcing its growing air links.

The move aligns with the government’s “Open Skies Policy,” which has attracted 23 airlines to the country, making travel across Southern and East Africa smoother.

The Airports Company of Zimbabwe (ACZ) hailed the launch, saying the triangular service cements Victoria Falls International Airport’s status as a prime tourism hub, promoting multi-destination travel.

“Airports Company of Zimbabwe Private Limited welcomes Air Tanzania Company Limited, the Wings of Kilimanjaro, as they launch their new route connecting Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam to our majestic Victoria Falls on December 11, 2025,” the statement reads.

“This triangular service, which continues to Cape Town, significantly boosts Zimbabwe’s growing air connectivity, reinforcing Victoria Falls International Airport status as prime regional tourism hub and enhancing our ability to facilitate seamless multi-destination travel for both leisure a d business visitors across Southern and East Africa,” ACZ said in a statement.

Air Tanzania’s Zimbabwe Country Manager, Ismail Mpinga, revealed flights will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, targeting the tourist appeal of Victoria Falls and Cape Town.

“We’ll link these ‘brothers and sisters’ in marketing with the tourism board,” he said.

The launch follows government investments in aviation upgrades, including an Air Space Management System and the RGMI Airport VVIP Pavilion, pushing for global standards under National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1). Recent additions like Qatar Airways, Emirates, and Ethiopian Airways underscore Zimbabwe’s growing appeal.
