Threatens anti-government villagers of eviction

A traditional leader who is also a ZANU PF official in Umguza District, Matebeleland South Province is up in arms with locals for selling state land to desperate home seekers.
Lizie Maseko, a headman in Mtshokotsho village, under Chief Deli Mabhena, is also accused of threatening villagers whom she claims are anti-government of eviction.
Villagers who talked to this publication claimed that, the village head always boasts that she is a senior ZANU PF official and her land deals have the blessings of her ‘party’ and officials from the Ministry of lands.
Moreover, she claims to be the wife of a senior CID member in the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
‘Sesithwele nzima ngalu mama. Uyathengisa amastands endaweni engatsheli muntu and ma izakhamuzi zimbuza uthi ngokweparty(We are tired of this woman. She sells land and when asked she will say it’s for the party)’, said a villager who declined to be named for fear of victimization.
The villagers also claimed they now leave in fear as she always threatened them with eviction because they were anti-government.
“We are seeking help from the government to protect us from this lady who is always threatening and harassing villagers claiming that ZANU PF will evict them if they don’t toe the line’, said another villager.
“She claims to be highly connected and that she is a wife of senior CID official.’, fumed another villager.
Ironically, villagers said Maseko does not have a home in Mtshokotsho as she stays in town (Bulawayo) and only comes occasionally to visit her child who stays at the village.
This publication tried to contact Chief Mabhena on the issue, but his phone was not getting through.
When contacted for comment, Maseko dropped the call several times.
Meanwhile, the government is on record warning home seekers to desist from seeking land through ‘Sabhuku deals’ that saw many people losing their properties earlier this year.
