The Nyamuroro Digital Hub in Gokwe was officially commissioned today, marking an important milestone in efforts to expand access to digital opportunities and skills for young people in underserved communities.
Supported through collaboration between the Government of Zimbabwe, UNDP and Uncommon.org, the Hub provides a dedicated space where young people and community members can access digital tools, build relevant skills and explore opportunities within the growing digital economy.
The commissioning brought together representatives from the Government, UNDP, development partners, local leadership and the community, highlighting the importance of partnerships in taking digital transformation beyond urban centres and into local communities.
The Hub is expected to serve as a platform for digital learning, innovation, entrepreneurship and access to online opportunities, helping young people develop skills that can strengthen their participation in the digital economy.
Speaking at the commissioning, UNDP Resident Representative Dr Ayodele Odusola underscored the importance of connecting young people to opportunity, noting that digital access can help transform skills and ideas into pathways for employment, entrepreneurship and greater economic participation.
The Government also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding digital opportunities across communities, emphasising the need to ensure that young people, regardless of where they live, can participate meaningfully in Zimbabwe’s digital economy.
UNDP said the commissioning of the Nyamuroro Digital Hub represents another step towards bridging the digital divide and creating more inclusive pathways for young people to learn, connect and thrive.
