A Mount Darwin man is lucky to be alive after he was struck with a brick on the head by his sister in-law in a dispute over chicken.
Didymus Kora cheated death following the attack by his brother, Stanely Kora, together with his wife Rachel Zhenjeni.
The matter came to light at the Bindura regional magistrates courts yesterday where the duo appeared before magistrate Elisha Singano.
Zhenjeni was slapped with a three year jail sentence for attempted murder with One year suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The accomplice, Stanley Kora, was sentenced to three months in jail for assault.
The court heard that on January 19, Dydmus went to his brother’s house and enquired why he had taken his road runner chicken without his consent.
A misunderstanding arose and Stanley started assaulting his brother with open hands.
As the fight continued Zhinjeni picked a brick and struck her brother in-law on the occiput and he collapsed.
The injured Didymus was sent to hospital for medication.
