Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Dr Tamer Almassri, has strongly condemned the Israeli bombing of a tent camp in Gaza’s al-Mawasi, which resulted in the deaths of at least 21 people, mostly women and children, while injuring over 80.
Dr Almassri added that the attack, carried out using F-16 fighter jets supplied by colonial governments, is a stark reminder of the complacency of these governments in Israel’s war crimes.
He reaveled that Israeli forces have escalated their military operation in northern Gaza, with a significant buildup of troops and artillery fire around Beit Lahiya, forcing hundreds of families to flee their homes. The intensified assault has effectively cut off Beit Lahiya, along with other nearby towns like Beit Hanoun and Jabalia, from Gaza City .
Ambassador Almassri emphasized that these crimes are a clear violation of international law, particularly the Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War of 1949.
“The global community has a collective duty to act, demanding that the occupying state cease its relentless aggression against Gaza, halt its blatant disregard for international law and humanitarian norms, and put an end to the atrocities committed against the Palestinian people.Furthermore, those responsible for these heinous crimes must be held accountable for their actions.” Almassri highlighted.
However, “Despite the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Israel to halt its military offensive in Rafah, Israel has continued its genocidal war on Gaza, since October 2023, martyring at least 44,532 Palestinians and injuring 105,538 others 10 000 people are unaccounted for and presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip”, Ambassador Almassri explained.
