Matabeleland North Province Police Spokesperson Inspector Glory Banda confirmed receiving the report of a recovered motor vehicle at ZRP Kamativi during the Easter holiday operation.

It is alledged that an alert roadblock team from ZRP Kamativi, comprising of Sergeant Major Tapiwa Muwodzi, Sergeant Tongesai
Mashinge, Sergeant Evans Ncube and Constable Fannie Mhlanga were manning a Police roadblock at the 28KM peg along Cross Dete- BINGA Road on March 27 at around 01pm.

Further allegations allude that as the team were enforcing traffic control, checking for various vehicle and other offences, the suspect Malvin Ronald Nyoni(22) of Timothy Nyoni Village, under Chief Nekatambe in Hwange together with two males and three female juveniles who were on board and heading to Binga approached.

The Police flagged down to stop the suspect where they demanded the driver’s license together with the vehicle documents.

Nyoni failed to produce any of the requested papers and alleged that he has a provisional drivers license which he failed to produce upon request, prompting the Police to engage in a serious investigation into the matter.

Police made a chase using a well wishers vehicle which was parked nearby and finally managed to catch up with the assailants who dumped the vehicle and fled on foot where they vanished into the nearby bushes.

The vehicle was then impounded at ZRP Kamativi waiting for further investigations and the suspects are still at large.
